“Happy Days”, Scenography

Classical Theater Company, Rotterdam

From physical model to built scenography, this project translates Samuel Beckett’s stage directions into a performative structure shaped by the constraints of an amateur theatre production. A central challenge was realizing the image of an actress buried inside a mound within strict logistical limits: minimal access to the stage, no storage at the location, and a short installation window.

Installed Set & Physical Model

These constraints led to a portable, CNC-fabricated structure, designed for rapid assembly and structural stability. Finished with a jute textile coated in earth, combined with dry plant matter, it forms a barren, tactile landscape. The restrained material palette reinforces Beckett’s desolate setting while supporting themes of isolation, endurance, and decay.
